Timeless Traditions
Timeless Traditions is an ensemble that blends the Native American Flute and Celtic Folk Harp in classic, ethnic, and contemporary music in original settings.
Jacque Tinsley and Jon Romer strive to honor the rich musical heritage of many world cultures and celebrate its extraordinary diversity.
Audiences often comment on the calm, healing nature of Timeless Traditions' performances. This speaks to the power of music to deepen our sense of peace and enhance our emotional well-being. Jon has taught music at all levels (K-12 to post-graduate) for over 40 years. More recently, he has developed music curricula at the Bug-O-Nay-Ge-Shig tribal school and Leech Lake Tribal College. A focus of his work is to help students discover how the flute's voice may deepen understanding among people. He has worked with R. Carlos Nakai, Ken Light, Bradley "Windy" Downwind, and elders on the Leech Lake Reservation to ensure a respectful and appropriate use of the Native Flute in today's world. Jon plays often within the Leech Lake community for elders, health services, graduations, weddings, funerals, and various events.
The Native American Flutes used in this recording were made by Odell Borg of High Spirits Flutes (A,D,F#, G), Ken Light of Amon Olorin Flutes (D#), and J. P. Gomez of HeartSong Flutes (G).
Jacque, as a child, showed a pure-hearted love for music. Her parents encouraged her to study piano, voice, and guitar. Currently her musical interests include playing the mandolin and Celtic Folk Harp. Jacque, in recent years has continued to explore the unique qualities of the harp, flute, and other instsrumental combinations. She plays at weddings and devotional gatherings within the community, sharing her passion for music. The Celtic Folk Harp used in this recording is made of Rosewood and comes from Pakistan. It has five octaves allowing a wide-range of song styles to be played. The glockenspiel brings a fresh element to these ethnic melodies. We've added the ocean drum, wind chimes, and various other nature sounds which help carry us to other places across the oceans. Jacque's other interests and talents include the photography and graphic design of this CD. It is our hope that the reflective music in "Bridges" will take you on a meditative journey to a place of tranquility by bridging various world cultures and strengthening a connection to your heritage.
