Silent Treatment
THE BAND: Out of the sun and smog of Southern California rise SILENT TREATMENT. The album's first single, "Fear" is an up-tempo hellraiser that has been put into rotation and received buzz on MTV's The Real World and Road Rules Challenge. "This album places emphasis on our collective musical growth and focus," explains Rosales. - Mark Gilmore, KRXQ 98Rock DJ & Host of Local Licks (Sacramento, CA) Within the past two years and over 200 live performances in the United States, SILENT TREATMENT has shared the stage with some of their heroes and friends: Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Michael Anthony (Van Halen), Local H, Ratt, Great White, Days of the New, LA Guns, The Supersuckers, Sponge, Cherry Poppin' Daddies, The Koffin Kats, Steel Panther. SILENT TREATMENT took part in 2010′s South-by-Southwest Music Festival in Austin, TX, Left Coast Live Music Festival in San Jose, CA and The California State Fair in Sacramento, CA. THE HISTORY: The band formed when high school friends Rosales and Abel teamed up with Wu and Esparza during their college careers at University of San Diego, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Cal State LA and Cal State Fullerton — barely making it out alive with Business degrees. Upon graduation they found their way to a South Bay LA warehouse space where they took up residence together. Not only did they sleep and rehearse in this building, but they decided to throw parties to make rent each month; capitalizing on the location. Abel provides his own perspective on the place they called LochNess: "Jerry and I were sitting on the roof of the warehouse with some beers into the late hours of the night and a large fight broke out. It was loud, messy and we were wide-eyed that police didn't show up "til a half hour after it was done and no one, not even the guy who had taken a golf club to the head, was still around – That's when we knew we would have no problem making a little extra noise." Once the band began to tour more regularly, they ditched the South Bay warehouse and moved into differing locations around Los Angeles and Orange County. When home from tour they rehearse and write for the next record in a large flat overlooking the San Gabriel Valley. "It's the most centered location with a majority of the band living in Silverlake, up in LA, and me down in Huntington Beach," says Rosales. "After being in a smelly van for months at times, it's the best thing in the world breathing in the fresh salty air at home… at the beach."
