Light Blue
Artist Summary Genres: Blues / Gospel Blues Label: Indie Artist Bio Light Blue blues began in the basement of a 100+ year old farm house in Webster NY in 2007. The Lord put on Bluesman Cat's heart that he should jump back into the blues scene. At first there were three then four then five of us...sharing the common vision that the Blues should be used to reach the lost... the hurting...the folks that need Christ! The sound is blues - delta blues, ole' time blues, sixties rockin' blues, gospel blues, all types of blues!
The Lord has lead us to venues like bars, prisons, missions, coffee houses, churches, and outdoor festivals. All good as long as we follow HIS direction."Some want to live within the sound of the Church or Chapel bell; I want to run a rescue shop within a yard of hell." CT Studd More About Light Blue Mike "Cat" Caternolo – Guitar and Vocals ... Playing in the local bar scene didn't cut it for Mike in late 2003. Many changes in life forced a new thinking, to attain a better way and not conform to the norm. Accepting Christ as Lord in early 2004, he gave up 25+ years playing secular music and quit the bands that were much of his life at the time. The Lord redeems all talent for His glory. A few years later… Mike is back playing the music of his roots, blues with jazz influence but now for a much higher purpose. Dat' be some Good News Blues You Can Use to fill the hole in your soul! Robert "Blue" Ludwig - Guitar and Vocals... Strong creative force for Light Blue bringing to the table many blues originals. Blue wins the contest for most guitars on stage ... utilizing his Strat, 12 string, 6 string, and slide guitar to add to the variety of sound. Blue started playing guitar at age 7 and by 7th grade he latched on to the first blues he heard: Cream's "Strange Brew" and Jimi Hendrix doing "Red House." After that came the Kings – B.B. and Freddie and the Alberts – King and Collins. Blue had the rare privilege of seeing the legendary Son House play slide guitar at his high school on an old Stella flat top, and still plays his own '62 Stella in memory of the Rochester blues icon. Rolling with the Iron Horsemen Motorcycle Club taught him a lot about the world and scrapes with the law taught him to value his freedom, but at age 30 he found the true meaning of freedom in a personal relationship with Jesus of Nazareth. He is the acting director of Calvary Prison Ministry and has a heart for the lost, the rejected, the forgotten, the incarcerated, the homeless and others that society has given up on or kicked to the curb. One of his favorite Scriptures is John 16:33 where Jesus said "…in this world you will have the blues, but lighten up, I have overcome the world." OK, slight paraphrase…
Mark Collins - Harp and Vocals... Mark has been playin' harmonica since age 14. He is a gifted composer and musician with a great desire to serve. Mark collaborated with a local composer to write a track for a film featured in a California Film Festival. The music comes into his head from his heart! Mike Spang - Bass ...From an early age Mike had the desire to be part of the rhythm section ... his mother convinced him to take up the guitar rather than the drums. Loving all types of music and not being able to walk by a guitar without picking it up, Mike has been playing a variety of styles of rock, blues, jam band music for over forty years. Primary influence: our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Key musical influences for this project include Tony Levin, Phil Lesh, Taj Mahal, Todd Agnew, BB King, Eric Clapton, and the Blind Boys of Alabama. Mike is also a member of the Koinonia Praise Brand with a regular Tuesday night gig for the Lord leading worship.
